View to Soca River Valley

This area was hugely involved in WWI. This hike was to the top of a
strategic military something. We also went to the best WWI museum in
the world in a little town. The Slovenes had a tough place in the war
because they were split between the opposing country lines of Austria
and Italy, so brothers fought brothers.
Which is why in around 1920, my great grandma Jennie Jarc Fercik
immigrated to the US.

It looks like a beautiful place. Hard to believe that something as ugly as war took place here. Love, Toots
