Shame

This is me hiding my face because we scored 10 $9 poinsettias. We even
had the heart to let a few people have some out of our baskets. Merry
Christmas:)

My new gravel pit

Here is the beginning of the road up our mountain.
Merry Christmas!

Its my birthday!

I made a cake and great steaks tonight. And it happened to also be my
birthday! I'm 27 and so very thankful even to just be alive on planet
earth.
I feel like I look like Elton John in this photo. I think I'll go play
the piano now in his honor:)

Yummmm

This is the season's first candy-making attempt. I'm making Carmels to
wrap. One of my favorite kitchen items is my electric thermometer.
This one is great because the temperature range is large, unlike ones
that are just used for meat.
Maybe divinity next week, which I only have a 50% success rate.

Sorry it got cut off

That water was in a cooler that somehow got some gas in it and tainted
the water which then got put in the fridge:( Nothing like gas flavored
burps:)

Katie Smith

Appearances are not as they seem.

Brand new water. Tastes like gas. Why? Somehow some gas got

Bayleaf- greatest little place in town

Bayleaf 159 South Main Street, SLC
When you go, parking can be hard to find. There's metered stuff out
front if you get lucky.
We recommend the fried pickles, a side of Mac (not the fried Mac),
kool-aid (drinks served in sweet mason jars), chicken and waffles (ask
for the syrup to be heated), and coleslaw.
And if you're feeling really good, a few bucks for the claw machine in front:)

We have a confession...

No, we aren't kissing sisters. We are however, comparing the length of
our eyelashes! We've both been using Latisse to make our lashes long
dark and lucious and boy does it work!

I hate dinosaurs

Dinosaurs rank number one on my list of things I hate. My good friend
Eric Cooper wanted to come see the dinos in Vernal and I'm a nice
enough person that I consented.
The trip has been adventurous- I unknowingly dropped a gold earring at
a gas station in Heber. 40 minutes later I called the station and
Sherry looked around and found it!
We'll be stopping there on our way home presuming we haven't been
eaten by a t-rex!

It's good I had a diet coke tonight

I had a diet coke at brewvies I guess it was last night. It's good I
did because I've been cranking out some stuff for my gravel pit deal
that I was supposed to have done yesterday. I've probably been working
on it today for 10 hours. I put on some noise canceling headphones,
got some trail mix and went to work.
I do plan on sleeping in Tuesday.

Conference breakfast

Each conference weekend we do a very large breakfast on Sunday. I make
the crepes the night before. Come on over if you're around.

Cousin at Costco

So, I should write Costco a thank you note because I consistently see
family there. Sometimes it's family I'm familiar with like Sam and
Dallas, or Shannon and Walt.
But occasionally I see family that I don't see anywhere other than
Costco. On this particular day, I was walking down a big aisle, made
eye contact with a person who continued walking past me. It took me
about two seconds and a second glance to figure out it was my
long-lost cousin Preston 'Bill' Child!
I had to kinda shout his name and probably should've introduced myself
to him since it's been about three years since I've seen him, probably
at Costco.
So, thank you Costco for keeping my family in touch.

Pre-race happies:)

Picking out an outfit is a lot of fun. Especially when it's before
you're physically exhausted.
We carbo'd up and are ready for a few hours of rest.
We are in the last corral to start so we'll have to break away from our pack.
Wish us luck!

Garbage sale!

We are manning the baby at the Dannon yardsale.
Owen said naughty-in-the-night Walter is for sale for $4,000. That'd
cheaper than the maternity deductible, plus the cost of diapers and
formula, so....sold!

I've given up on the garden...

And so my cucumber turned inti a baseball bat and this weird little
squash thing got bigger and weirder.
If you need tomatoes, please come get them or else they'll rot and die.

Keeping a pig at bay...

Harley was done eating but he was torturing Maggie by guarding the
food. For some reason, Maggie respects Harley and his food.
I asked Harley if he was done and he got up and let Maggie finish.

This is heaven

Except it's 100 degrees today. So that makes it the opposite of
heaven:) Liz, my mom and I are having a great time at Disneyland.

Bye bye bled

My selfish little sissy:)

I asked Liz if she'd share her shirt so I didn't have to have Alja buy
me one too. Liz said 'what' and I repeated 'share your shirt' and then
the conversation repeated several times. So, shes not going to share
her shirt:) She's the baby- gotta love her!

Slight disappointment

So, this is St Lawrence chapel in Dragomere. Our three great grandma
should've been here but the headstone couldn't be found. I'm so
disappointed. We think the cemetery mustve put somebody else on top of
where she was.
She raised our great grandma who walked 20 miles round trip everyday
to roll cigars in Ljubljana.
I was really looking forward to seeing her and am totally bummed we didn't.

Best dressed for today

Although I've worn the same outfit for 12 days, at least it's a little
classier than this cute number.

Horse gate

Notice the horse heads on the handles n

It don't matter if you're black or white

Just like MJ, they start out black and end up white:)

Lipici horses

Pink Floyd??

Our cousin Tina loves Pink Floyd. Her parents found this 'Dark Side of
the Moon' record album and gave it to her for her birthday. It
literally made her cry. Her birthday is tomorrow but the tradition is
to celebrate the night before.

Wild lake

This is a spring fed cavern thing. It's 160 meters deep and when it
rains it goes crazy.

Mine

Mercury mine tour

Cool tour in idrija. We actually went into the mine.

WWI tire spikes

I bet police wish they had this little weapon.

If they only knew...

Poor things. They don't even have a gold medal brand machine to spin sugar.

View to Soca River Valley

This area was hugely involved in WWI. This hike was to the top of a
strategic military something. We also went to the best WWI museum in
the world in a little town. The Slovenes had a tough place in the war
because they were split between the opposing country lines of Austria
and Italy, so brothers fought brothers.
Which is why in around 1920, my great grandma Jennie Jarc Fercik
immigrated to the US.

Some cave in Slovenia

I'm officially calling myself sick. I got super car sick yesterday and
woke up with a stomach ache still. For those nerds out there, I've had
bonine, pepto, nexium, and advil (for my back). And I finally
convinced Alja we actually have to eat real food.
Liz lands in two hours!!! Wahoo!
